A dog’s life

October 6, 2010 By Katrina

Is this not the cutest face you’ve ever seen? Where are your eyeballs, Ella? That fuzzy pup sure knows how to make a heart melt. Man, oh man.

Jared and I often joke about how great Ella has it and how much we’d like to pull the ol’ Freaky Friday with her for the day. Really, how great would it be to wander around the house and look for sunny spots to sleep in all day?

To further emphasize the total awesomeness of the concept, I bring you A Day in the Life of Ella:

• 6 a.m. I’m snuggly in my bed. Mom and Dad’s alarms are starting to go off. I’m still tired. Ruff.

• 7 a.m. Attempt No. 1 from Mom to get me out of my kennel to go outside. No can do, Mom. I am one sleepy girl.

• 8 a.m. Attempt No. 2 to get me out of bed — this time from Dad. He rubs my belly, so this is a go.

• 8:15 a.m. All that outside business makes me sleepy. Dad gave me a cookie though. I will bury it under a pillow on the couch and save it for later. Time for bed again. Ruff.

• 8:18 a.m. Mom just saw my cookie. Now I have to hide it somewhere else. Done. Sleep. Ruff.

• 10:30 a.m. Hmm. Everyone is busy. I think I’ll eat breakfast now.

• 11 a.m. Found a sun spot. I’m feeling sleeeepy.

• 12:15 p.m. Door? Daddy? EEEEEEEK! DADDY’S HOME!!!!! I’M GOING TO ACT LIKE I HAVEN’T SEEN HIM FOR 18 YEARS!!!! DADDY!! I LOOOOOOOVE YOU!!!!!!

• 12:45 p.m. Another sun spot? Yes please.

• 3:30 p.m. I suddenly feel the need for human companionship again. Mom? Where are you? Found you! I will now commence sleeping on my flipped over bed, which you have so lovingly placed by your desk.

• 5:15 p.m. Door? Daddy? EEEEEEEK! DADDY’S HOME!!!!! AGAIN!!!! I’M GOING TO ACT LIKE LUNCHTIME WAS LAST YEAR!!!! DADDY!! I LOOOOOOOVE YOU!!!!!!

• 6 p.m. No more sun spots to be found. I think I’ll sleep on the back of the couch. No, the chair. No, the couch. I’m so tired from trying to choose. Where’s a lap when I need one? Ruff.

• 7:30 p.m. Mom and Dad are sitting on the couch? Yahoo! I will sit on Dad’s lap. No, Mom’s. No, Dad’s. Sleepy again. Ruff.

• 9 – 11 p.m. My 21 hours of sleeping have finally caught up with me. Must. Play. Now. Want to play with Squeak Frog? Trey? My ball? How ’bout that old sock? I have so much energy. I will run in circles as fast as I can. I will fight my stuffed elephant. I will shake your slipper. Run, run, run! Ruff.

• 11:15 p.m. Is it time for bed yet?

It’s a dog’s life. Gotta love it.

XO,
Katrina
