How’s that for a snazzy slogan on a T-shirt? I found it a few weeks ago at Dick’s Sporting Goods and couldn’t resist. It perfectly illustrates my lots-o-runnin’ = lots-o-ice-cream philosophy. Nike, you get an A+ on this one.
Speaking of running news (I know, I know, enough running already. But this is the last one for a bit. I promise!), the KC Marathon was yesterday, and both of my legs are still intact. Wahoo! It was a great day for running (though I did come home with a bit of a sunburn. And more freckles. Ho hum.), and tons of people came out to cheer for the 11,000ish runners. This sounds incredibly cheesy, but there’s such a great feeling of camaraderie when you’re lumped in the middle of thousands of other people who have all been working toward the same goal as you. Runner folks are good eggs.
About this time last year, my little brother got into running 5Ks. He’s an athletic kiddo who’s pretty much good at any sport he tries, but he’ll readily admit that he was in it for the free T-shirts. Although I definitely didn’t run 26.2 miles for the freebies, it’s fun to take home those little mementos to remember the big day. Here are my faves from the post-running loot:
Official runner bling: There’s nothing like a medal to make you feel like you finished something. OK, it’s not Olympic gold, but it is heavy and shiny. Woot! No matter how old you get, medals are pretty groovy.
Finisher’s T: So you can, you know, keep on running. Seriously though, this is pretty nifty. It’s nice to get a T-shirt that you really will use for a run.
And … cookie cutters?: OK, these came from my mom and sister not the KC Sports Commission, but aren’t they cute? An October marathon is Halloween-y by default, and I’m love, love, loving these guys. Time to make cookies!
Do you have any favorite freebies from runs gone by? Or great giveaways from another occasion? I’d love to hear about it!
XO,
Katrina
