Remember a few weeks ago when I talked about how Jared and I have been working toward healthier eating all around? This totally misses the bill.
My tastes have definitely changed during the past few years, but there are certain cravings I just can’t seem to kick. I think everyone has that one food (please tell me I’m not alone!) — that one prepackaged, so-bad-for-you-but-you-so-don’t-care kind of thing — that you can’t stop loving, no matter how hard you try. For me, there is one glaring culprit that I love above all others: Pillsbury pop-and-bake cinnamon rolls.
It’s a love I have difficulty explaining. There’s something magical going on inside that can. Maybe it’s the flaky dough, the cinnamon swirls or the perfectly crisp outer ring surrounding the soft and gooey center. Whatever the source of my deep adoration, it’s a quality I’ve yet to find replicated by any homemade version of this beloved classic — and that’s not for lack of trying. Don’t get me wrong; I’ll take a good homemade cinnamon roll any day of the week. But pop a can of Pillsbury cinnamon rolls, and call me Pavlov’s dog. I’m drooling before they even hit the oven.
Before diving head first into hours of made-from-scratch holiday cooking last week, we started the day with a healthy dose of cinnamon-y goodness that’s become a tradition in itself. Here’s a photo of what we noshed while watching the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade.
Looks pretty delicious for pop-and-bake, huh? My tummy’s growling just thinking about it.
So what about you? Is there one delicious, prepackaged or not-so-homemade treat that you’ll love forever despite its less-than-superstar nutritional stats? Or better yet, a cinnamon roll recipe that will have me eating my words (along with more cinnamon rolls. Om, nom, nom)? Sharing is caring, pals!
XO,
Katrina

This is my favorite homemade cinnamon roll recipe!! Making the dough in the bread maker really does the trick!
Ingredients
* 1 cup warm milk (110 degrees F/45 degrees C)
* 2 eggs, room temperature
* 1/3 cup margarine, melted
* 4 1/2 cups bread flour
* 1 teaspoon salt
* 1/2 cup white sugar
* 2 1/2 teaspoons bread machine yeast
*
* 1 cup brown sugar, packed
* 2 1/2 tablespoons ground cinnamon
* 1/3 cup butter, softened
*
* 1 (3 ounce) package cream cheese, softened
* 1/4 cup butter, softened
* 1 1/2 cups confectioners’ sugar
* 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
* 1/8 teaspoon salt
Directions
1. Place ingredients in the pan of the bread machine in the order recommended by the manufacturer. Select dough cycle; press Start.
2. After the dough has doubled in size turn it out onto a lightly floured surface, cover and let rest for 10 minutes. In a small bowl, combine brown sugar and cinnamon.
3. Roll dough into a 16×21 inch rectangle. Spread dough with 1/3 cup butter and sprinkle evenly with sugar/cinnamon mixture. Roll up dough and cut into 12 rolls. Place rolls in a lightly greased 9×13 inch baking pan. Cover and let rise until nearly doubled, about 30 minutes. Meanwhile, preheat oven to 400 degrees F (200 degrees C).
4. Bake rolls in preheated oven until golden brown, about 15 minutes. While rolls are baking, beat together cream cheese, 1/4 cup butter, confectioners’ sugar, vanilla extract and salt. Spread frosting on warm rolls before serving.

Ooo, this does sound delicious! I’ll have to give it a try! I don’t have a bread machine, but maybe I could do it the old fashioned way? Thanks for the recipe!!!
