You can’t put a price on my love of white ceramic, but if you could, $4.99 sounds like a pretty sweet deal.
During our last IKEA trip (I know, I know, I keep reliving my latest IKEA experience, but I’m hoping the trail of breadcrumbs ensures I’ll find my way back again), Jared and I scouted out the sale section right before heading to the checkout. The aisle consisted mainly of summertime decorations (think red, white and blue and an abundance of stars), but when my super shopping sleuth of a hubs spotted this white ceramic planter amidst a sea of Fourth of July paraphernalia, I knew we’d landed on a winner. With its textural design on the side and low, wide shape, I figured it would look great somewhere in our apartment — where, exactly, I wasn’t so sure. But for less than $5, the pot was a steal (not literally; we’re not criminals, fools).
So our pot o’ love survived the trip back home from Atlanta, thanks in part to my skillful packing job (and thanks to the daddio, who taught me to pack like a pro). But once we returned home, it sat on our kitchen counter for nearly a week before we finally found the perfect spot. Check it out:
Our deal of a pot makes the perfect planter for our second-tiniest Christmas tree. Woo to the hoo!
We hid the base of the faux tree by filling the pot with a second box of silver ornaments (see how we used the other ornaments here), and it looks like we planned it that way all along. I do so love a serendipitous decorating experience. Must be the power of positive thinking.
So now our tree has a happy home, and so does our gotta-have-it IKEA pot — at least until the holidays are over. Then it’s back to the drawing board. But continual change is what keeps home décor fun, don’t you think?
Have you scored any awesome items from the sale section lately? Any creative uses for summertime décor to keep it in season all year round? Let’s hear it!
XO,
Katrina
