It’s probably no surprise to anyone that Target paraphernalia is a staple in our home. From chummy birds to throw rugs, curtain rods to furniture, we do so love a good Target find (particularly those we can snag on sale). Our Target obsession was actually a running joke with my little sister for a good couple years. Anytime she’d come to our place and notice something new, she smile and ask, “Target?” She knows us so well.
Although real grown-up jobs have allowed us to branch out a bit from our trusty shopping locale (I’m convinced that store never met a college student it didn’t like), it’s still a go-to stop for all sorts of things we never knew we needed. Which brings me to my favorite thing this week: our super comfy and pleasantly neutral slipper chair, otherwise known as our best Target purchase to date.
We bought this chair from Target online after spotting it on YoungHouseLove.com. Our living room space is a bit, ahem, cozy, so we don’t have room for a big cush recliner (much to Jared’s dismay). I loved the idea of a slipper chair because the no-arms structure is a great way to add extra seating without taking up so much visual space. It’s simple, streamlined and can slip in just about anywhere (slip? Bahaha!). So after seeing how cute it looked in the photos and reading some of the buyer reviews (you have to do your homework, pals), we decided to try it on for size. And as Goldilocks might say (if she spoke in the story), it fit just right — as did the price tag of less than $120.
I should note that the process wasn’t 100 percent peachy. Although the chair arrived only three days after we made the order at Target.com (with free shipping. Score!), it was a beast to put together. Granted, I’m not the most patient girl on the block, especially when it comes to projects that involve screw drivers and instruction manuals, but three hours is way too long to spend putting together a chair that comes in just four pieces. Thank goodness for Jared and his superhuman patience. As it turned out, the screw holes for the legs and chair base didn’t line up exactly like they were supposed to, so it took some skillful maneuvering and about five gazillion tries to get those crazy legs to stay put (if I’m remembering correctly, there’s still one lonely screw hole that never did cooperate). But after a painful putting-together process, we couldn’t be happier with the results. The chair is super stable and works really well with the rest of our décor. And the neutral tone makes it the perfect backdrop for a splash of color in the form of my fave polka dot pillow from Crate and Barrel. Woot!
We probably don’t need to add another chair to our family of furniture, but I am sometimes tempted by the prospect of buying a match. If only we could go-go-Gadget our walls and expand outward a few extra feet. But then where would the decorating challenge be in that?
Do you have any favorite Target purchases of late? Or any great pieces of furniture you snagged for a deal and keep patting yourself on the back for finding? If there’s anything we’ve learned in the past few years, it’s that quality doesn’t have to come with a mega-huge price tag. Woo hoo to that!
XO,
Katrina
