Jared and I have been slacking on our weekly Target dates lately. Perhaps we’ve been too busy or too distracted (ho hum, grown-up-ness), but it had been a while since we hit the ol’ bull’s-eye store for a scan of their latest knick-knacks. When our booming town of 100,000+ (it’s official, census readers! Woo hoo!) got a Marshalls last fall, we added that to the regular rotation, too, so it’s actually been a simultaneous neglecting of both places. But as the snow finally started to melt a few weeks ago and we ventured outside of our warm and cozy digs for a casual shopping extravaganza, we lucked into a mighty great find (not to mention a super great deal) at the latter of our two haunts. Yep, I think we reentered the retail world just in the nick of time.
Between my love of purple and our mutual appreciation of seating (who doesn’t love a good chair?), this little purple number from Marshalls was just what we didn’t know we were looking for. It’s super duper sturdy, has adorable details and was way cheaper than it probably should have been. So it was settled; we had to take this baby home. We took it up to the register, shared laughs with an elderly gentleman who asked which of us got to sit in it first and headed out to the parking lot with our treasure in tow. In all of the excitement, we had forgotten that we drove there in my little Focus that day instead of the Jeep. Blurg.
So we spent a good 15 minutes (in the mid-30s weather) trying to fit this not-so-tiny chair into the trusty Focus, who folded her seats, popped her trunk and opened all her doors without complaint while we desperately searched for space. Finally, it fit (flipped upside down in the front passenger-side seat), and we managed to get it home without any more trouble (though Jared did say that he felt rather chauffeur-like with his chair companion in the front seat and me in the back, but no bother).
Once we got home, however, we realized we had made rookie mistake. We purchased out of love and not out of necessity. There was no designated space to put it! So what did we do? Tore the house apart, naturally. We started in the living room, rearranging everything, moving out book shelves, Goodwill-ing lamps — all to find a space for this purple chair. We parked it in the living room for a few days until the disheveled-ness of the room got too overwhelming. Then we moved everything back (yes, even the heavy stuff), and pretended it never happened.
But this isn’t a tale of returns. We decided to park our purple beauty in my office for now (it does make a mighty comfortably work-time companion), until we figure out a better plan that involves less (needless) heavy-lifting. I suppose the lesson in all of this should be not to buy something you don’t have a need for it. Humph. But then again, I do love that chair.
Have you found any great deals lately? Any new pieces you just knew would fit somewhere but have yet to find a permanent home for? Have you ever decorated an entire space around one piece of furniture or accessory? Do tell!
XO,
Katrina

I LOVE that purple chair!!!! 🙂 It is so cute. It looks a lot like my pink chair, that we got at TJ Max! They could be sister chairs. ( FUNNY ) You get it, and I will say again, I LOVE THAT PURPLE CHAIR! 🙂

Thanks, Zab! I’m a big fan of it, too. It’s super cute and super comfy — a pretty great combo of qualities to have in a chair. 🙂

Hi,
Love the purple chair, wish we knew where you got it. We tried scouting for this everywhere.

We found this chair at Marshalls, though I’ve seen similar chairs at TJ Maxx as well. Hope that helps!
