Favorite things: The bunny spatula

March 23, 2011 By Katrina

I suspect that most kitchen dwellers have a drawer full, crock full or cabinet full of assorted knick knacks that streamline their cooking and baking escapades and make the overall process even more enjoyable. For some it might be a snazzy whisk, a super sharp knife or a hand mixer that zips with the best of them. I, however, am not nearly as refined (a.k.a. mature) as my culinary cohorts. Sure, I’ve got gizmos and gadgets a plenty (yes that is a Little Mermaid reference. I am 10 today), but none thrills my baking gene quite as much as the bunny spatula picture above. Like I said, I am 10.

My love for the bunny spatula runs deep. It first appeared a few springs ago when Jared returned from a trip to St. Louis. He stopped into Williams-Sonoma to pick up a surprise for me (pretty groovy, huh?) and came home proudly toting his perfect find. Since then, it’s seen me through scores of cookie batches, dozens of muffins and countless odds and ends that require skillful spatula-ing. And even after all those gos in the kitchen — and subsequent washings — that cute-as-a-button bunny face remains perfectly intact. Here, here for solid craftsmanship.

When push comes to shove, the spatula (bunny face or not) is my kitchen tool of choice. How about you? What’s the one gadget that you can’t live without? Any fun stories about kitchen-related gift giving you’d like to share? I can’t wait to hear it!

XO,
Katrina

I absolutely could not live without my cheetah print ice cream scoop!!! Great for many reasons- 1. Cheetah print anything is a must 2. Yay ice cream 3. I found it while shopping on a yearly mother-daughter shopping trip in BRANSON. The only thing missing is a rhinestone or two…

Haha! Love it! And you’re so right; cheetah print in anything is a must. Perhaps you should add a bedazzler to your wedding registry?!? That would take care of the missing rhinestones. 🙂

That spatula is positively adorable! The footprints are my favorite part. The one thing I am in love with and can’t live without is my bright red Dutch Oven. I get excited every time I use it! Everyone should have a quality Dutch Oven in their kitchen, you can do anything in it!

I’m totally with you on the Dutch oven! I have a blue Le Creuset one that I LOVE! They’re practically indestructible! My grandma has the same one as me, but hers is about 30 years older. And it looks just as new!

That’s so cute! I have a confession to make: my spatula is a dollar store spatula that I bought last year and the handle sometimes pops off when I am stirring thick mixtures. I think I need a new cute one like yours 🙂

I have a few kitchen gadgets like that, too. It’s just so hard to get rid of them when they’ve gotten you through so much!

I love baking and eating. I really feel the kitchen is a great place to bond with my family also. Thanks for the great post.

I agree! Nothing brings a family together like delicious food and good conversation.
