Upper crust = upper awesome

March 24, 2011 By Katrina

It’s been a crazy couple of days around Casa Jared and Katrina. Work, deadlines — we’re going bananas. And although my baking has admittedly fallen behind while we wrestle the day-to-day grind, rest assured that we’re still eating good in the neighborhood.

These pretty-as-a-picture pastries were made with love at The Upper Crust, our favorite little bakery in Columbia. Everything I’ve ever had there is amazingly delicious (salads, sandwiches, cookies, you name it), but their fresh-baked pastries are far and away my favorite weekday splurge. Jared chose a strawberry cream cheese croissant, and I went for the always-a-winner cinnamon roll. So in the spirit of all things delicious, I invite you to sit back, put your feet up and enjoy a bit of eye candy pastries. Mmm…

Are there any great bakeries in your neck of the woods? Where do you go for a mid-week treat? And at the end of a busy day when you just don’t feel like cooking, what’s your go-to meal plan?

XO,
Katrina

When it comes to rising to the occasion. My Panera wins hands down! In a world of rising prices, it’s one of the only bakeries that I know that rewards its friends with free pastries, bagels and coffee. A perfect morning or afternoon pick–me-up. Pecan rolls my favorite and light roasted coffee.

Panera is pretty groovy stuff. I got a free bagel there just a few weeks ago. Woo hoo! I’ll have to take your word on the pecan roll, though. 🙂

Nice pastry photos, Katrina – Did you take them?

Thanks, Jenny! My husband actually took these photos. We just invested in a snazzy new camera and are having tons of fun figuring it all out!
