Last weekend, my mom and I put together a bridal shower for Michelle, my best friend from high school who’s getting married this July. Woo hoo! Michelle and I have been friends since we were 12 years old, which, for two military kids who were used to moving around every three years, pretty much feels like forever. She’s the friend who was stuck by my side through those crazy middle school years, when we listened to too much Britney Spears and developed an extreme obsession with the color yellow, and all the way through high school while we bounced around in cheerleading and made grand plans for our future as celebrities. Friends like that don’t come around every day, and nothing makes me happier than knowing that my yellow-loving, crafting-crazy BFF has found all the love and happiness that she deserves.
For the wedding, Michelle is going with a black and white color scheme paired with bunches and bunches of sunflowers, which made bridal shower decorating pretty easy peasy stuff. My mom and I picked up faux sunflowers from Michael’s (the real deal is still hard to find this time of year) and put them in some of the blue and white pots and vases she already had on hand. Because the shower was a 2-in-the-afternoon affair, we stuck with a pretty simple menu: cookies, pumpkin muffins, vegetables and dip, fruit and cheese and crackers. Sometimes simple is just what the doctor (or bridal shower planner?) ordered. Here’s a peek at some of the goods from the happy day shindig:
Have you done any party planning lately? Any foolproof tips about party menus, decorating or invites you’d like to share? I’d love to hear it!
XO,
Katrina

The sunflower cookies are adorbs. And the wrapping paper is so cute! Looks like it was a lot of fun to plan and host!

Thanks! I’m so hooked on using squeezy bottles for icing cookies. I feel like I’m in elementary school art class all over again; it’s the next best thing to finger painting!

Thank you so much for a BEAUTIFUL bridal shower! All the details were spot on- you thought of everything. I’m so very lucky to have met you in 7th grade, in music class, while eating dill pickles at lunch. You’re the best!

You are so welcome! Good thing our moms both knew to pack those pickles. Otherwise we would be lost. 🙂

What a cute party, especially with the cookies and sunflower seeds 🙂
We have a graduation open house pending for my husband in a few weeks for 12 people–yikes! Better start planning (and cleaning) 🙂
