I know, I know, I’m painfully behind on blogging. Things have been busy. Such is life. But here we are, smack in the middle of my favorite time of year. Fall! Thanksgiving! Christmas! Hooray! So basically I’m glued to Pinterest, cookbooks and Bon Appétit as of late. Oh, and Hallmark Channel. You know, 24 hours of Christmas movies and all. Life is good.
Although our kitchen has been churning out a consistent stream of fall favorites (pumpkin muffins, ginger spice cookies and the like), there hasn’t been much by way of new and adventurous lately in the culinary realm. We have had a string of visitors the past few weeks, though, and we’ve used that as a great excuse to do some actual adventuring around the area. Think Salem, Plymouth, New Hampshire and bunches of Boston.
It’s been a good time, and I’m continually amazed by how much is so close to us. Mid-Missouri will always be one of my favorite places in the world, but it takes a hundred years to drive anywhere. In Boston, everything feels right around the corner. And the more we explore, the more my comfortable, familiar, feels-like-home neck of the woods is growing.
So yes, it’s been busy and lots of fun, but now, it’s time to get back in gear. I have a Thanksgiving dinner to plan and two weeks with which to do it. Is anyone else feeling the scramble?! More to come!
XO,
Katrina

Loved the photos! So beautiful there. Florida just does not have a Fall charm like Boston however I do love the cooler temps…..70’s and 80’s 🙂 Also planning dinner for friends of my high school and college age kids who just don’t have family (or family that celebrates a big festive dinner) around. Looking forward to hearing what you’re cooking.

Hi Katrina – can you tell me what the statue is of – the child holding the bird – do you kow if it is supposed to be Peter Pan ?
Katrina Tauchen says
It certainly does resemble Peter Pan! I don’t know a lot about the statues in the Public Gardens, but I did find this tidbit about the Boy and Bird on Wikipedia: “Bashka Paeff’s ‘Boy and Bird,’ in the fountain on the west side of the garden, was made by a Russian immigrant who did the model of it while she was working as a ticket taker at the Park Street Station of the MBTA.” Here’s a bit more about it from the Boston Art Commission website: http://www.publicartboston.com/content/boy-and-bird-fountain Hope that helps!

Thanks Katrina, for going to the effort to find out. Great work on your blog – have enjoyed it since bean was a bean – but don’t go to your posts as often as I would like, there is always something interesting & love your photos.
