Every three months or so, I’m overwhelmed by the compulsion to do a mega purge of the outside of our refrigerator. All of those Christmas cards, baby announcements and random notes that I just couldn’t part with suddenly start cluttering up the joint, and my need for tidiness hits hard. Ten or so minutes of clearing and sorting later, and I’m left with a wonderfully plain Jane refrigerator with nary a sentimental knick-knack in sight. This pleases me more than it should for about a week. Then that poor refrigerator just looks sad and underdressed.
A while before the holidays hit last year, the folks at PostalPix offered to send me a test batch of prints using their handy app (it’s an Android and iPhone app where you can order prints of your fave phone photos). The company specializes in square Instagram prints, like these:
I ended up picking one of my favorite Instagram shots of Beany (taken in the North End of Boston last summer) and ordered a 4-by-4 metal print to put on our newly cleared refrigerator. Truth be told, I ended up loving it way more than I expected to, and I ordered one of Bear not long after he was born. So now our refrigerator is decidedly minimalistic without being sadly empty. ’Tis the best of both worlds, methinks.

Fun contest! Most of my pictures are family/friends at social gatherings. I love capturing the little moments to remember an entertaining evening.
Fun! My Instagram account is definitely overtaken by photos of the girls! I sometimes wonder if I should photograph something artsy or scenic, but I just can’t help but photograph them 🙂
Our pets are the stars of our photos. There are a lot of them and they’re always doing something cute or silly enough to warrant a picture or two. 🙂
