I’m back! After one long month, 3,300 miles of open road and a flurry of family visits, life is finally feeling reasonably back to normal around here. We knew for months that we were heading to Wisconsin this summer for my grandma’s 90th birthday party (heeeey!), and after going back and forth about whether we’d prefer to fly or “enjoy the easy breezy pace of a care-free road trip,” we decided to take the car. Yes, we packed two parents, two teeny kids and an even teenier poodle into the trusty Jetta for a trek halfway across the country. Yes, it was long.
On the way there, we stopped in Pennsylvania to see my brother’s family, and once the Wisconsin leg was over, we figured we might as well swing through Missouri, too, to see more family. So it really was a roundabout way of seeing everyone we could in a few weeks time. It was wonderful in so many ways, but we are so, so glad to be home. And off the roads. And out of the car. Beany and Bear were great troopers throughout, but it’s safe to say that our longing for a road trip has been satisfied for a good many moons to come.
With all of the back and forth, I’ve fallen super behind on posting my weekly photo project, so I’m going to play a bit of catch-up over the next few days. I just finished sifting through my 1,400 (!!!) photos from the journey and have plenty of favorites to share. There are some favorite new recipes to work in, too, so the blog will be hoppin’ again. Woo hoo to that! And now, for the photos:
Bear: This is what vacation looks like. Calm, relaxed, not a care in the world and happily resting on my dad’s chest. Our boy is living the good life.
Beany: This girl loved spending time on Grandma’s farm, and it was so great to see her running around, getting dirty and enjoying the kind of wide open spaces that we just don’t get here.
Hope your summers have been full and fun, too! What have you been up to? I’d love to hear about it!
XO,
Katrina
