It’s officially fall in New England! Actually, I guess it’s officially fall everywhere in the northern hemisphere, but I must say that of all the places I’ve lived, fall around here feels particularly amazing and autumny. The air chills a littler sooner, the leaves change a little faster and sweaters can soon be unpacked. Woo hoo! It’s the beginning of my favorite time of year (blah, blah, cliché, pumpkin spices lattes, I know. But fall really is the stuff).
It’s our second fall in Boston, and it’s been pretty fun remembering our favorite things from last year that we’re excited to repeat now as a family of four (plus pup). High on our list (besides frequent stops at Starbucks for the aforementioned pumpkin spice lattes) was apple picking. We returned to our much-loved Honey Pot Hill in Stow, Massachusetts, for a fun morning filled with hayrides, apples, farm animals and apple cider donuts. The weather was perfect, and both kids had a pretty awesome time.
Like the crazy bananas photogs we are, we took something like 230 pictures while we were there, but the top two are definitely my favorites from the day. That’s Bear on the hayride, looking very much the part of a farmer boy with that hat, which I’m now realizing makes an appearance in slightly more than half of his weekly photos. And then there’s Beany, munching on a just-picked Honeycrisp apple, with that tiny pop of the hip. Even whilst quietly eating, the girl has personality.
So those count as their weekly photos, but there were too many more not to share a few extras. Here’s a peek at our apple-filled day.
Stay tuned for the fruits of our labor! I have a Crock-Pot full of applesauce right now and an apple cake on the horizon. Oh, and pie (per Beany’s request). We can’t forget the pie.
XO,
Katrina
