The 52 Project, 2/52:
Bear: He’s looking like a little rascal these days, always climbing on things just to see if he can. His sister’s bed is the latest mountain he’s checked off his list.
Beany: Post-bath curls in her usually straight hair, with the last bit of twinkle from the Christmas tree — two of my favorite things just here for a season until it’s on to something else.

On Saturday morning, I waited with the other parents outside of Beany’s ballet class and watched as the kids danced and twirled and spun. During a lull in the conversation, I innocently asked, “So, is anyone else excited to get snow?”
Crickets.
I started rambling, “You know, good snow that the kids can play in because snow is so pretty, and if it’s cold, it might as well be snowy, and…”
You would have thought I’d asked if anyone was excited for their next root canal.
So I have already learned a valuable lesson this week: Bostonians, on the whole (based on my survey of half a dozen parents at ballet), do not enjoy snow. And if it’s not on the ground yet, then they don’t want to talk about it.
It’s sunny today, but I hear there’s some wintery business on the horizon for the upcoming week. Hooray! (she said quietly in the comfort of my her home, far from the locals’ earshot).
Hope your week is off to a good start!
XO,
Katrina

🙂 I tend to get the same reactions when I say that I love snow! But I just love the light, the cold, the cracking under the boots… and the silence it can bring…

Yes, the light! Everything looks prettier in the snow. 🙂
